I want to share my experience with you so that you get to know DIY as comfortably as possible.
I sincerely recommend starting a DIY electronics journey with Charles Platt's amazing book "Make Electronics".
The book is very easy to read, suitable for complete beginners and then I recommend to get familiar with Arduino the world's most popular microcontroller, it's small but has endless capabilities and applications.
On the pages of the site, you will find an overview of my toolbox which I recommend.
